Wow! How time flies. I haven't been on this site in quite some time, but I thought I'd make a quick visit to post a photobook that I made for McKenzi's 17th Birthday. It's a recap of her Sophomore year at Prosper High School. Enjoy!

Turkey Day...Gobble Gobble

We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving hosting our families in our home this year.  There was lots of food to eat and fun.  My favorite part of the weekend was when we went around the circle before eating our Thanksgiving meal and each of us told what we were thankful for.  It was a gentle reminder to us all how truly blessed we are. 
Then on Thursday night, all the girls loaded up in the cars and headed to Walmart and Target to see if we could catch any great pre-holiday sales.  I'm not usually one to fight for a $9 sweeper, but I actually had a great time and came home with more items than I needed.  Here's some fun pics of our adventures.

 

Our final holiday outing was to the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine where everyone enjoyed the Ice Show.

Sophomore - Wise Fool

 Today I dropped my 'baby' off at Prosper High School as a Sophomore. It's difficult to understand where the time has gone. I'm starting to get that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that she will be going off to college the next time I blink my eyes. Life has a funny way of flashing past us without even really realizing it.
  I just discovered today that the word, Sophomore, literally translates as 'wise fool'. How true it is that as teens we thought we knew it all, but in reality we were so clueless. I guess I can speak for myself on that one, but I will say that I'm very proud of McKenzi and all that she has accomplished and the wisdom that she possesses which tends to be far beyond her years.

I guess it's days like this that make me realize that I need to cherish the time I have left with her at home.

CAUTION: New Driver Behind the Wheel

We have a new driver at our house with a new car to top it off. McKenzi got her first car this weekend and is learning to drive. Of course, she's doing a pretty good job since she's been accustom to driving a four wheeler around unpredictable, reckless drivers! Needless to say, however, if you see a black 2012 Honda Accord SE scooting around town, you can't say you haven't been warned!

Gone to the 'Boat

Our good friends, The Bristols, invited us to go along with them to their condo in Steamboat Springs, CO for spring break. It was an amazing trip, unlike any other that I've experienced. They were certainly terrific hosts, and we all had a great time. Here's a few pictures from the trip.

SPE Young Engineer of the Year

So proud of Kelly and his career accomplishments. He didn't share this achievement with many, but I'd like to shout it to the world. For some reason, good news never seems to travel very quickly!

Freedom 2012

So blessed to be a part of Prestonwood Ministries. McKenzi enjoyed a wonderful weekend of Freedom at Prestonwood's North Campus. Just an amazing opportunity for the students in Prosper. What started out about four years ago with 60 kids has turned into this...close to 600 kids praising God!

Lady Eagle Has Landed

We have arrived in Prosper and are getting in full swing of being the newest Eagles in town. McKenzi was selected to the Freshman 'A' team and is playing setter and hitter. She has done a great job so far and is really loving her new coach and teammates. This weekend, her team traveled to Howe and won the Championship for the Freshman bracket. I've attached a silly picture that she and her team shot of themselves while waiting between games at the tournament.

OKC Memorial Marathon

McKenzi and Kelly ran the 5K together at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. The frigid, rainy weather didn't dampen the spirit of the race which was a pretty unique experience watching over 25,000 runners run in memory of those who lost their lives in the OKC bombing in 1995. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate a little better next year and we will all be in better shape to run :-)

Sequoyah Track

McKenzi ended a successful track season at the Conference Meet in Putnam City this weekend. She competed this season in the high jump, 4X800 relay, 400m run, and 800m run. Her relay team was undefeated bringing home the gold medal in all six meets. At the conference meet, McKenzi ran her personal best time for her leg of the relay. She also medaled in the 400m run and high jump at the meets this year.

Arm 'N Hammer

McKenzi's club volleyball team, Arm 'N Hammer, finished up their season at the OKRVA Regional Volleyball tournament in Tulsa, OK. They finished second in their pool with three wins and one loss; which placed them in the gold for bracket play. The were beat out in the first round of bracket and did not get to advance.

She had a great season and enjoyed making new friends on the team. Tryouts for the next years high school team are May 18th. We're ready to see if all the hard work in the off season will pay off.

McKenzi went to her winter formal cotillion tonight. Doesn't she look stunning!

Smack Talk

We spent the weekend watching McKenzi play volleyball in the Redlands Rendezvous Tournament. She plays on the Oklahoma Peak Perforance club team 14 Metro. Her team did not fair so well on Saturday but got to play in a pretty phenomenal venue at the Cox Convention Center in downtown OKC. We got to watch many fantastic teams with a day full of volleyball action. On Sunday, her team played in the Bronze bracket and played much better. They won all of their games in this bracket only getting beat in the championship; therefore coming home with a silver medal. We are so proud of her. McKenzi is doing a great job of improving at her position as setter for her team. We're looking forward to more tournaments and fun.
